links to pages about literature - carpe librum!1

In Germany we say "reading's educational". That's right.

How important it is for me reading books I already told you on the subpage "my stories". It's stimulating your thinking and imagination, proposes new knowledge and points of view, moves us and is important for our evreryday life. Allthough several (and not only a few) people try to get through without the ability to read or write.

Here now I provide links to my favourite writers and their works, to sites to order books or to lend them etc..

I have still to say:
Should somebody know links / addresses to sites about Alfred Hitchcock or other prominent authors just forward them to me. I will link them here btw. on the following pages. And if you tell me I will link your page also.

And something about the "Lord of the Rings":
A man called Michael Jovy has written and published a short essay about the "Lord of the Rings", it's approximately three pages, entitled "Weiß und blond und blauäugig" (German translation title; original title is unknown to me). I recommend it for reading, although you don't have to burn your copy of "Lord of the Rings" afterwards. Because you should know:

"Where they burn books they will burn men in the end."

Heinrich Heine: "Almansor", 1821, Vers 243f

compare WDR 5.

Not seldom you have to know facts about and of the old myth of the different peoples to understand hints and idiomatic expressions in modern literature.

In the case of need of scientific literature you should look on my linkpage, you should find there what you need.

1: carpe librum! (lat.): use the book!
